Cheng Peng | erhu

Cheng is a professional Erhu performer based in the United Kingdom and a former Huqin virtuoso with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. She gained international acclaim during the orchestra's European tour, covering Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, and Hungary. In 2001, Cheng entered the Middle School affiliated with the China Conservatory of Music, majoring in Erhu, and studied under the guidance of instructors He Churong and Zhao Ge. In 2007, she successfully enrolled in the undergraduate program at the Central Conservatory of Music, studying with Professor Yang Xue and Professor Yan Jiemin.In 2011, Cheng continued her education at the Central Conservatory of Music, pursuing a master's degree under the mentorship of Professor Yan Jiemin. Throughout her academic journey, Peng actively participated in recording film scores and music programs for CCTV.

Cheng has received numerous awards, including the Huang An-yuan Scholarship Third Prize in the High School Section in 2005 and the Second Prize the following year. She also received an Outstanding Award at the Wenhua Awards presented by the Ministry of Culture in 2005 and the Third Prize at the "Hsinchu Cup" International Erhu Competition in Taiwan in 2012.

In addition to her accomplishments, Cheng actively engaged in performances, including participation in the Netherlands Music Festival, concerts in Portugal, and captivating performances at the London Opera Music Festival. Her diverse experiences further showcase her outstanding skills in traditional Chinese Erhu playing.

Currently residing in the United Kingdom, Cheng continues to excel in traditional Chinese Erhu performance, making a significant impact on the European stage.
